Yolanda Rose Thomas is a mother of two beautiful young children, Ayden and Zahra. In 2019 when Yolanda began reading to her first born, she realized the importance of including books that feature African American characters who look like her daughter. When Yolanda read “Hair Love” by Matthew A. Cherry, she was in awe and thought to herself “I can do this!”
Yolanda has always been a writer. She wrote poems in high school and music well into adulthood. In 2019, she channeled her love for writing into creating short stories for children. With plenty of stories written, and two of them illustrated, she is on a journey to contribute more African American books to the market and enjoying every minute of it!
Yolanda’s aim is not only to represent African American characters but also to provide an example of entrepreneurship in the African American community. Her mission is to show little brown girls and boys that they were created beautifully, full of wonder and able to achieve anything they desire if they just dare to dream.
These beautiful books are available for purchase on Amazon.
